Stink Films launches Stink Rising as a global home for rising talent

Stink Films has launched a new division to nurture an international roster of up and coming directors, who are currently working in music videos and other forms of visual content, to be overseen by the company's London-based EP of Music, Katie Lambert. Stink Rising has a roster of ten filmmakers from all over the world, that the company are investing in to propel their careers upwards, with most of the directors making themselves available to pitch on music video projects.

The roster contains Brazil-based Douglas Bernhardt, who has won awards at Ciclope and Kinsale for his Tagua Tagua video; London-based Felix Brady, who has impressed UK commissioners with his UKMVA-nominated work for Col3trane; Geej Ower, shortlisted at this year's UKMVAs for her Becky & The Birds extended promo; US-based Jared Hogan, acclaimed for his work with the artist Joji; and Judith Veenendaal, a Dutch director whose work is informed by music, dance and theatre - she's repped by Stink apart from in France and the US.

Also on the roster is Norwegian director Kenneth Karlstad, whose short film The Hunger recently won the critics award at the Norwegian Short Film Festival and led to screening at festivals across Europe; Matthew Thorne is a young Australian artist whose mainly photographic work is focused around the relationship between people, land, mortality and spirituality; Dutch director Noël Loozen, an accomplished artist, photographer and director - his distinctive film Spoetnik premiered at the Berlinale and went on to win several
prizes; Nigerian-American filmmaker Sherif Alabede, acclaimed for his haunting music videos for LORN, Arcadian and Acid Rain, which won Best Dance Video at UKMVAs; finally, British director Stella Corradi, who won Best Female Director at LSSF for her film Little Soldier, also commended at the Underwire Film Festival for Best Screenplay.

“Stink Rising launches with ten filmmakers from around the world who we believe, given the right support and exposure, will be leading creativity in advertising and entertainment in years to come," says Blake Powell, Stink Films' global head of talent. "This roster shines a spotlight on the emerging talent we’re most excited about and everyone needs to see now. We’d like to think we’ve set the bar pretty high.”

“Every filmmaker on the Rising roster has been chosen for their unique voice and style”, adds Katie Lambert, EP of Music and Stink Rising. “I’m so proud to have such diverse work represented, ranging across continents and formats. From Berlinale awarded pieces, through YDA awards, Vimeo staff picks and all the way to the most talked-about young director of Brazil, this roster truly represents the global scope and taste of Stink Films.”
