Filmmaker Johnny Hardstaff, creator of groundbreaking music videos for Radiohead and others, who recently returned to music videos for Jimmy Whoo's Motel Music Part II, has signed with LEZ Creative for music video and commercial representation.
For over 15 years Hardstaff has created groundbreaking work in music video, advertising and branded entertainment, for clients including Philips, Smirnoff, Royal Marines and Ferrari, also working with Ridley Scott on the Alien series.
The past 12 months have seen Hardstaff return to music videos with the long format Motel Music Part II for Jimmy Whoo (above), nominated for Best Cinematography at this year's UKMVAs, as well as making branded film Seawolf, and forthcoming long format film for Ferrari. Now he joins with Mary Calderwood, executive producer at LEZ, who has two decades of experience in music video and branded content production.
"Off the back of Motel Music I’ve completely fallen in love with music video again, so joining forces now with LEZ makes perfect sense," comments Hardstaff. "It’s easy to keep on making good work, but great and totally unexpected work? Work that’s constantly different each and every time? That’s the only ambition and that doesn’t happen in a vacuum.
"In signing to LEZ I’m very fortunate to now work closely with a creative production legend who’s easily as progressive today as she was at the outset; Mary Calderwood. Our plan? Together we’re going to make unexpected, different and above all else very lovely things."
